Silk Cultivation Handbook[New Edition] by Yoemon Tsukada
This book was published in 1757 by Yoemon Tsukada, who was a sericulturist from Kamishiojiri Village, Shinshu (current Kamishiojiri, Ueda City). The preface of the book has several drawings depicting mulberry plantation, silk cultivation, yarn-making, weaving, and finished products. It is one of the oldest books dedicated to the silk cultivation industry after Dogen Yomoto’s Kogai Youhouki (Notes on Silkworm Cultivation Method, 1702) and Shigenobu Baba’s Kaiko Yoiku Tekagami (Exemplars of Silkworm Cultivation, 1712).
