A textile pattern book consisting mainly of brocades, the most elegant of all textiles.
The Shinshu University Faculty of Textile Science and Technology currently possesses six sample books used as course materials at the Ueda College of Sericulture. Since they bear serial numbers from the silk weaving department, it is believed that these sample books belonged to the department. The samples are believed to have been woven from the late Edo Era to the early Meiji Era and supplied to the palace and noble families, but details are unknown. Many of these textiles use traditional Japanese patterns and are valuable reference materials for designing new fabrics.
